Penkridge Junior U10 Result – 7th February 2010
Topps 2000 v Penkridge Junior U10
Hard fought battle on a make shift pitch, kicked off with a new 3-2-1 formation only to concede two goals in a long, mud bathed 30 minute first half, with a lot of chances falling Penkridges way but unable to convert, possible penalty, but still, only 2 nil down.
Half time and with 30minutes under our belt a chance to explain more how the formation works, and hopefully the decision to defend in the mud in the first half will have tired Topps and our defence can take it a little easier second half and play on relatively smooth grass.
With the defence being able to pass the ball out it gave the midfielders more openings with Matt and Marcus working there way through the middle, a quick one two with Malek and Marcus was one on one with the goalie and it’s there 2-1. few more chances went Topps way but our defence stood strong, need a bit more work on corners but we’re getting there.
Quick sub Joe comes on, Malek takes the ball wide a flick over defenders head a pass through to Joe then onto Marcus, back to Malek and its there 2-2, with ten minutes to go can we do it………
Both teams battled to get the winner, late on Topps had a free header from a corner but their No7 played it wide, then in the last minute there was a another big penalty decision definite hand ball but it would have been harsh on Topps for the ref to have given it.
2-2 it ended a fair result for two teams that worked their socks off in pretty poor conditions, well done to both teams.
