Smashing first match of the Season – U9

Saturdays training at the New training ground, Princefield School showed loads of promise with a well-rested and motivated team turning up for training and giving it their all.

This commitment was displayed again on Sunday with the teams first match`s of the season at Rowley Park.  First match against an historically strong Cannock Town Blues finished with a 1-1 draw,  both sides displaying some great football and sportsmanship.

Due to clerical errors beyond our coaches control we had to play Cannock Town Blues again but this time the Blues took the wrath of our semi-pro striker Gemma when she scored 2 goals in as many minutes at the start of the first half, assisted all the time on both wings by a very strong Joel and Joseph team.  Joseph was a rock in midfield being up the front knocking them in and then at the back helping our goalie George B.

Nathan in midfield showed several displays of brilliance with some great returns up front and turns and our defence had not lost its sparkle with Jack, Matthew and Ethan constantly getting that ball back upfront.  Our goalkeeper saved many a magical shot from the Blues main striker and performed some great long kicks down to the hungry strikers.  George P was as strong as ever with not much getting past him.

Great turn out from the supporting parents and they were rewarded with a 3-2 win, wow what a season start. Quote from coach on the day Ant Lawley “SO PROUD OF THEM ALL, GREAT START TO THE NEW SEASON, ONE DRAW AND A 3-2 WIN, LETS KEEP IT GOING”
