u9 Match Report 16.10.11

Everybody was on time for our one match of the day against the Stafford Falcons and with everybody wearing their new shiny team strip, recently supplied by our new sponsor ‘The Cross Keys Public House’.  Everyone was a little apprehensive going into this match without our seasonal top goal scorer Gemma, who was at home ill in bed (get well soon Gemma X).  Cameron won the toss and as soon as the whistle was blown it was clear we were in for an exciting game.   The lads played some great football from the very off with Matty putting the ball to Joels feet deep into their half within only a few seconds.

For the first 12 minutes the ball never even came into our own half, with the Stafford Falcons goalkeeper being kept very busy and keeping his team in the game on many occasion.  It wasn’t long however before Joel dropped in a great cross over to the centre for Joseph to then slam the ball into the top right hand corner.  The team really remembering their training with some great passes from one side of the pitch to the other.  1-0 up going into half time things were buzzing in the under 9`s camp.

Quick drink, coach pep talk and a custard cream biscuit and  back in for the second half with the Falcons coming on strong from the whistle with our Goalkeeper George being tested for the first time, but with no problems.  We settled down and kept up the pressure showing no signs of getting tired and clearly getting used to the full 20-minute halves.  Jack was as solid as ever in defence and soon put a stop to the one or two quick breaks that the Falcons made and chipping the ball back down the line.  Full time, a well deserved one – nil win sees the under 9`s move even closer to the top of the league table. What a way to start a Sunday with your family!

Well done to all – priceless!
