Penkridge u21′s Bilston League Champions

Congratulations to Penkridge u21′s, beating Trysull Tigers in a league play off to win the Bilston u21′s League. Having finished level on points, the league was to be decided by way of play off, with the resulting fixture played at Wolverhampton College. Penkridge opened the scoring with Sam Brook combining with Matty Dyke down the right to shoot hard and low from just outside the box. Big moment in the game, free kick to Penkridge on the left, ball whipped in well defended by Trysull, ball breaks perfect tackle from Tom Wellings ball straight to their left midfielder who hits first time ball over top, Ben comings rushing out one on one with their striker…………….

After this both sides with limited chances and Penkridge defending well saw out the half, 1-0 to Penkridge.

The second half Tyrsull started the brighter, with Penkridge having to absorb a lot of the pressure, however midway through the half two Penkridge defenders were drawn high to the Trysull striker, who turned well, breaking to his left, powering into space and slotting well past the Penkridge keeper and equalizing for Trysull 1-1. Their was again limited chances for both evenly matched teams but the best fell to Penkridge with Jack Dixon through on goal only to just fire wide of the post. So with both teams finishing the season level on points it only seemed right for the play off to be drawn on normal time, with the whistle blowing and extra time beckoning.

Penkridge this time started the brighter creating chances and from a goal kick Jack Dixon taking the ball down well and broke one on one again with their keeper but this time slotting home, advanatge Penkridge, however with 5 minutes to go of the half a heavy touch from one of our defenders and their right midfield picked up the lose ball breaking down the right and whipping in across met at the near post and beating the Penkridge keeper. 2-2. Second half of extra time kicked off and both teams giving one last push, but with tired legs and two evenly matched sides neither could find that moment of magic. Game ended 2-2 and penalties would decided the league.
